The U.S. House of Representatives passed the “George Floyd Justice in Policing Act” in a vote of 220-212, with only one Republican supporting the bill. The bill bans US police tactics of using a chokehold, that is kneeling on the neck of the victim to cause him into submission.
The reader should remember that last year, Derek Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, used a chokehold to suffocate 46-year-old George Floyd, an African-American man. Floyd died at the spot, and it resulted in a social revolution called “Black Lives Matters” in America and many countries in Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia.
