The desperate effort of President Donald Trump to scuttle the election victory of President-elect Joseph Biden is losing momentum as Vice President Mike Pence told Trump that he had no authority to block the certification of Biden at Congress.
It is important to note that US Congress will hold a joint session to count electoral college votes and confirm Joe Biden’s victory.
According to New York Times on the conversation between Trump and Pence, “Vice President Mike Pence told Mr. Trump on Tuesday that he did not believe he had the power to block the certification of Mr. Biden’s victory today, despite the president’s assertion to the contrary.”
President Trump had written on Twitter saying that “The Vice President has the power to reject fraudulently chosen electors.”
