PM Ilukamba of DRC accepts parliament’s vote of no confidence

Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has voluntarily accepted the vote of no confidence against his government by the parliament.

Mr. Ilunkamba, a renowned technocrat and formerly a professor at the University of Kinshasa, was staunch supporter of President Joseph Kabila, whose father President Laurent-Désiré Kabila, was assassinated on 16th January, 2001.

There is no doubt that his departure from Congo’s government, after two years as Prime Minister, would give President Félix Tshisekedi an edge to consolidate power in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
