Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife, an Amazon and the senator representing the people of Anambra Central Senatorial District of Anambra State, has made true her promise by flagging off a road project in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, on Saturday, 6th February, 2021. She was assisted by her Project Committee.
The positioning of the road is strategic, selfless, and welcomed. The road is a bypass that stretches from Agbom Primary School (Ward 2) road to Akudolu road (Ward 1) before it connects to Awka Etiti town.
When the road construction is completed, it will ease the perennial traffic congestion at the Afor Nnobi market – one of the biggest and functional semi-urban markets in South-Eastern Nigeria.
The people of Nnobi came out in large numbers to witness the groundbreaking ceremony. The popular Obialigbo dance group mesmerized and thrilled Ndi Abalukwu Nnobi, a unique name for the people of Nnobi for their preferences for greater value.

SA Media to Senator Uche Ekwunife stated that Dr. Patrick Mbanefo, Chairman of Ngo quarter Nnobi, and Chief Chris Ezeani, the Chairman of Caretaker Committee Nnobi Town Union, expressed the deepest appreciation to Sen. Ekwunife’s road project, which in no small scale will improve the condition of Umunnebo and Umuru in particular, and Nnobi in general.
He averred that Okpala “Onyechi Ifezue (Okpala Nnobi), the Traditional Prime Minister who stood in for the Traditional Ruler, His Royal Highness Igwe Engr. Nick Muodum Obi prayed with the kolanut. He blessed Sen. Ekwunife for remembering Nnobi community. In his prayers, he asked God to Grant her quest for future political aspirations.”
Furthermore, he noted:
“Comrade Ndu Ikoku, the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party Idemili South said he would have been surprised if any other road had been selected by Nnobi people. He thanked the Senator for her laudable strides in Idemili South.
“Hon. Obiora Okpala, the Principal Consultant to Sen. Ekwunife thanked God for the day and expressed an incomparable hearty gratitude to the Senator for listening to the cries of Nnobi community. He hinted that the project will be done to standard and given close monitoring.
“On his part, Engr. Dennis representing the contracting firm stated that the road when completed will put smile on the faces of the people. “It’s going to be a driveway of about 6.5 to 7 metres wide with drainage of 650 by 650 stretching the 1.4 km road”, he said.
“Reacting to the project, the Chairman of Umunebo village, Mr Henry Okongwu said that the people of the community are excited over the project which will bring succour to indigenes and residents of the community.
“Mr Tony Ojukwu Chairman PDP Ward 2 thanked all for honouring the Invite even at a short notice.
“In his Vote of Thanks Chief Anuukwu, (Otigbu Inyinya Nnobi) said there will be no more going on exile during the rainy season. He expressed without bounds his heartfelt joy and prophesied that Senator Ekwunife’s quest to be in the Government House Awka come March 2022 is already answered by God and the entire gathering chorused Amen.”
