The 104 Yazidi’s men killed and buried in mass grave during the insurgency of the Islamic State of Iraqi and Syria (ISIS) on August 2014, have been returned and given a befitting burials at Kocho village, Ninevah Province, Iraq.
The genocide against the Yazidi by ISIS was a result of their native religion, which the terrorists considered as heresy. Yazidi’s religion is a monotheistic religion that believes in one God. It could be linked to ancient Mesopotamian faiths, mixed with Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Such contributed majorly to the attempted annihilation of Yazidi’s men. Most of their women were raped and humiliated, and their children suppressed.
It may take a longer time before the larger population of Yazidi that ran away from Yazidiland for safety will return homeland.
