LET JUSTICE BE DONE: Another Lekki tollgate protest looms… as government warns

Another protest is looming in Lagos State over the alleged directive given by the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses, for the reopening of Lekki tollgate and operation of the Lekki Concession Company, in Lekki, Lagos State.

The protagonists of the progress are not happy that the above-mentioned Judicial Panel could give such ruling before giving justice to the victims of SARS brutality, especially in Lekki tollgate – the epicentre of the protest. Thus, the reason for the planned protest scheduled to hold on Saturday, 13th February 2021, by 7am.

Public are advised to be vigilant while plying the route as tension may generate between the protesters and the law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, Gboyega Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, has decried the planned protest, and warningly tweeted “nobody will bring our dear Lagos State down! Their rights end where other people’s rights begin.”

It is pertinent to remember that most Nigerians demonstrated for weeks in October last year to end the brutality, inhumanity, high-handedness, and services of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a Nigerian Police Force unit, founded in 1992.
