CHIEF OLISA METUH BOWED TO NIGERIAN CORRECTIONAL CENTRE: “The Almighty God has saved me,” Metuh echoed

If anyone is in doubt of how the Nigerian Correctional Centre formerly called prison could transform a Nigerian, especially politician, he should have a chat with Chief Olisa Metuh. Before his arrest on 5th January, 2016, by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Metuh was seen as a diehard publicist of the People’s Democratic Party, and a nightmare to the All Progressives Party.

Throughout his trial, many expected that Metuh would not melt until Justice Okon Abang banged his melting mallet on him, and he was imprisoned in the Kuje Correctional Centre on the allegation of illegal collection of N400 million from Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd.), former National Security Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan. It was Justice Stephen Adah-led three-man panel of the Court of Appeal that set him free.

In a reception organized for him, Metuh confessed, “I have been to the lowest, deepest end of the valley. I have wrestled with the demons. I wrestled with the devils. The Almighty God has saved me. For that, I commit the rest of my life to the service of God and the people.”
