The female President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has reversed the inhuman policy of her predecessor that any female student that would become pregnant would discontinue her education after child delivery.
Her predecessor, President John Magufuli, who was criticized by international communities for his decision, had noted in 2017, “I give money for a student to study for free. And then, she gets pregnant, gives birth, and after that, returns to school. No, not under my mandate.”
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of President Hassan, the Minister of Education, Joyce Ndalichako noted that “pregnant school girls will be allowed to continue with formal education after delivery.”
