GOVERNMENT LOST TO HOMOSEXUALITY IN BOTSWANA: “Since the appellant’s grounds of appeal have been unsuccessful,” says a judge

Homosexuality gained greater ground in Botswana after Botswana’s government failed to establish reasons the Appellate Court of Botswana should rescind the 2019 judgment of the country’s High Court, which
considered the arrest, harassment, and punishment of homosexuals as “unconstitutional.”

Since the High Court judgment, Botswana’s government showed unwillingness to accept it, claiming that the court lacked jurisdiction.

However, Judge Ian Kirby ruled that the government’s appeal was unsuccessful and failed. The ruling helped in the decriminalization of homosexuality in Botswana.

It is believed that the Botswana government may appeal to the country’s Supreme Court for the final rule on the matter.
