2023 ELECTION IN NIGERIA: Igbos living in Lagos State led by G50 back Governor Sanwo-Olu for 2nd tenure

It is a dream come true for Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State as the leadership of Igbo people living in Lagos State unanimously agreed to support his reelection scheduled to hold on 11th March 2023.

This is sequel to a reconciliation of Ndi Igbo in Lagos State brokered by an elite Igbo body called G50 NICCBS (Ndigbo Integrated Campaign Council for Babajide Sanwo-Olu) Ofu-Obi Ndigbo. According to its founder, Dr. Festus Uchenna, “the purpose and ideology of G50 is first to ensure unity and progress of the Igbo in Lagos State under the umbrella of G50 and to get all the Igbo groups in Lagos State to come out and vote during the election.

“We have been disintegrated so much and we are here to ensure peace among the Igbo. The Ezes are behind G50 in this peace effort. All the Igbo groups are here to ensure that the Igbo stand united.”

Meanwhile, Chief Everest Ozornweke, the Secretary of the progressive group noted:

“G50 is the largest Igbo-based political advocacy platform with mixed diversity of Ndigbo drawn from across different Igbo-centric socio-cultural and socio-political organisations in all LGA and LCDA,s of Lagos State, United for the re-election of Mr governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu come March 2023.

“G50 NICCBS Ofuobi Ndigbo is a solidified pressure group of network of people with shared ideals, values and committed to authentic Igbo Renaissance, Promotion of love, peace, and unity amongst Ndigbo is our most treasured element.”
