PETER OBI’S CANDIDACY AND FR. MBAKA’S APOLOGY: Why Bishop Onaga should forgive Fr. Mbaka and reopen the Adoration Ministry
There is a well-known pithy saying in Africa that “when two elephants fight, it is the grass that gets trampled.” The terse expression reminds us of the piercing situations of Adorers of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, after the Spiritual Director of the ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Camillus Mbaka berated Mr Peter Obi for his parsimonious and stingy lifestyle. It was a needless provocation that evoked unprecedented reactions dotted with thorny contempt. Splotched with lack of reverence and embarrassment, the bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Callistus Valentine Onaga, on 18th June 2022, gave a pastoral injunction on attendance to Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu. In essence, he prohibited “all Catholics (clergy, religious and lay faithful) henceforth from attending all religious and liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry until the due canonical process initiated by the Diocese is concluded.”
If a soothsayer had told the 58-year-old Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State that Peoples Democratic Party would paddle him into excruciating hibernation, after expending energy and resources to sustain and strengthen the opposition party, he would not have believed. Yet, it happened because politicians often consider political virtue as the strength of the weak and interest as the opium of the might.
“Happy Birthday to Peter Obi, my dearest Big Bro:
“I will never forget your kindness to my beloved parents. Thank you for the respect you showed them, for your many visits to Abba, where you gave to Daddy and Mummy the most precious gifts: your time and your attention.
“Thank you for walking this still-unbearable journey of grief with my siblings and me.
Since the spark of political prophecies in Nigeria, the ever-flowing reverence showered on the Church is gradually waning because of the unbecoming utterances of some charismatic pastors that claimed to have been endowed with divine revelation. If such is not nipped in the bud it may be too late for the Church to curtail the excesses of the political prophets.
If anyone is still in doubt that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagaban of Borgu Kingdom is the Political Oracle of the Nigerian politics he should reexamine himself, readjust his crystal ball and beam his light on the trending political manoeuvre and development in Nigeria.
SOUTHERN NIGERIA POLITICAL GREED AND INDISCIPLINE: Will a Southerner become the next president of Nigeria in 2023?
When will Southern Nigerian politicians learn political lessons? It is gradually dawning on all that Northerners in the two major political parties in Nigeria may hold on to power due to a lack of cooperation among the aspirants from the three zones in the Southern parts of the country.
THE TRAGEDY OF A POLITICAL PASTOR AND UNWARRANTED SERMON: Is Pastor Tunde Bakare fair to Igbo people?
It is no more a news that 67-year-old Pastor Tunde Bakare, a Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Nigeria, has declared his presidential ambition on 9th May 2022, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, after obtaining a throat-cutting 100 million naira Presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from the ruling party, All Progressives Congress.
